Lamborghini Enters the World of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs)

Following a series of social media posts that hinted at it, Italian supercar maker Lamborghini finally announced its NFT (non fungible token) Project. The project is dubbed space key lamborghini Key and created in collaboration with an unidentified artist the project is based on a piece of advanced carbon fiber composite material that was delivered to the International Space Station for research purposes.

The latest project - dubbed the Space Key - is a piece of art that was created in collaboration with an artist who is not known. The Space Key is made from carbon fiber composite material that Lamborghini took to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of an experiment. The carbon fiber was transformed into a unique art work when it returned to Earth. The physical component includes an NFT serial number that is linked to the digital artwork through a QR code located on the back.

NFTs for those not familiar they are unique identifiers that are stored on an open ledger on the blockchain and linked to a digital asset like a photograph or video, song or any other type of record. This allows owners to ensure authenticity and traceability of tokens via the internet.

Working with NFT PRO which is a white-label NFT solution for businesses, Lamborghini is taking this unique approach to art to the next level. In the coming weeks, Lamborghini will release details about the exciting project. This will include the names of the artists who are unknown and a timeline for auction.

In the wake of numerous social media posts teasing something that was space-related, Italian supercar maker Lamborghini has stepped into the realm of tokens that aren't fungible (NFT) by launching an exclusive project dubbed Space Key. The NFT was developed in collaboration with a mysterious artist and will be auctioned in a few short weeks. At its heart is a piece that's made of the latest carbon fiber composite material that was delivered to the International Space Station (ISS) in 2019 as part a research project. The carbon fiber has been 3D printed to form the basis of each Space Key, which is connected to an exclusive, entirely digital artwork via the QR code that is on its backside. Just five Space Keys have been produced.

The digital artwork

After months of social media posts hinting at it, luxury car manufacturer Lamborghini has finally announced its first non-fungible token (NFT) project. It's called the Space Key, it consists of five items that unlock a unique digital artwork created by the unidentified artist. The "collectors' piece" was developed in collaboration with NFTPRO(tm) and is limited to only five units. It will be auctioned soon.

Each Space Key contains a block made of advanced carbon-fire composite material, which was sent to the International Space Station as part of a 2019 research project. After returning to Earth the block was inscribed with a QR codes that link to the digital element of the Space Key.

Each of the five Space Keys will feature a separate moment that occurs seconds apart as the Lamborghini Ultimae lifts off toward the stars. Over 600 million pixels make up each of the five images that were taken by photographer Fabian Oefner.

Oefner used an inflatable camera that had a lens to capture the individual images, which were later added to the final picture. The result is an amazing out of the world image that reveals the beauty of the Earth as well as the futuristic, hyper-realistic view of the car rising from it. The Space Keys are going to be auctioned in the near future, however there is no specific date or location yet.

The auction

The auctions, which take place between February 1 through February 4, last for 75 hours and 50 minutes - the same amount of time it took Apollo 11 to leave Earth and enter lunar orbit. The five NFTs can be bid on by making an online registration. Each one will be auctioned individually and the winner will receive an artwork digitally designed by renowned photographer Fabian Oefner, which captures the five distinct moments the Space Key passed during its flight through space.
