Window Sash Repairs

Window sashes must be checked regularly for mold, mildew, and damage. You can avoid the cost of repairs in the future by catching these issues early on before they get out of hand.

The sash is the internal frame that is vertically moved up or down in windows that are open. This article will show you how to perform easy repairs to your sash.

Weather Stripping

Wooden window sashes are a great way to add an elegant appearance to your home. They are also sturdy and last for a long time when they are maintained properly. They may, however, get damaged or deteriorated over time, due to exposure and normal wear. The first step to sash window repairs is addressing weather stripping. It's found on both the sash and frame. It could cause drafts if worn or loose. The good news is that repairing and replacing this hardware is typically relatively easy and affordable. If you're having trouble opening the sash, spray some grease into the jamb channel. Then, you can slide the sash open to see if that fixes the issue. If the issue continues it's likely to be due to the sash's balance.
